Sankalp Web Series Cast
Nana Patekar as Kanhaiya Lal
Nana Patekar plays Kanhaiya Lal, widely known as Ma’at Saab. He runs Gurukul in Patna and is the dominant figure at the centre of the story. Exceptionally bright students are selected, educated and later sent to Delhi for UPSC coaching under his guidance. Over time, many of them enter powerful government positions. Kanhaiya Lal expects loyalty in return, turning the traditional guru-shishya relationship into something far more complicated.
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Aditya Verma
Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays Aditya Verma, one of Kanhaiya Lal’s most accomplished former students. Aditya has risen within the system, but his obedience to his mentor begins to weaken when he is asked to cross personal and professional lines. His growing resistance becomes the main challenge to Ma’at Saab’s authority and drives the mentor-versus-mentee conflict.
Sanjay Kapoor as Prashant Singh
Sanjay Kapoor appears as Prashant Singh, the Chief Minister of Delhi. He is fighting to retain political control while facing pressure from opponents, public anger and problems inside his own camp. His political journey gradually intersects with Kanhaiya Lal’s long-term plans, making him a central figure in the larger power struggle.
Kubbra Sait as DCP Parveen Sheikh
Kubbra Sait plays DCP Parveen Sheikh, another successful officer shaped by Kanhaiya Lal’s system. She is closely connected with Aditya and other former students of Gurukul. As investigations become more dangerous, her professional responsibilities and loyalty to her mentor increasingly come into conflict.
Neeraj Kabi as Waqar Mapillah
Neeraj Kabi plays Waqar Mapillah, an influential political strategist associated with Prashant Singh. Waqar is intelligent, calculating and deeply connected to an older chapter involving Kanhaiya Lal. His history with both Kanhaiya and Prashant becomes important as the series reveals why present-day political battles are tied to events from decades earlier.
Meghna Malik as Suhasini
Meghna Malik appears as Suhasini. Her character is connected with the older generation of the story and helps reveal the personal relationships behind the political rivalry. As the narrative moves between past and present, Suhasini becomes part of the emotional history that explains several present-day decisions.
Kranti Prakash Jha as Kasturi
Kranti Prakash Jha plays Kasturi, a dangerous figure who becomes involved in kidnapping, violence and the darker operations surrounding the main conflict. His connection with Aditya goes back much further than it first appears, adding another layer to the unfolding power game.
Roop Durgapal as Madhuri
Roop Durgapal plays Madhuri, whose personal life becomes caught in the tensions surrounding Aditya and the larger political struggle. Her storyline brings the consequences of the conflict into the family sphere rather than keeping the series limited to institutions and politics.

Sankalp Web Series Story
Sankalp begins with Kanhaiya Lal, or Ma’at Saab, an influential educator who identifies exceptionally bright children and brings them into his Gurukul in Patna. His students are later sent to the Chanakya Coaching Centre in Delhi to prepare for the UPSC examination. Many eventually become senior bureaucrats and police officers, creating an impressive network of successful former pupils.
But Kanhaiya Lal’s mentorship carries a condition. His students are expected to remember who shaped their careers and remain loyal to him. For years, the arrangement appears to work. Aditya Verma, Parveen Sheikh and Vasudev are among the officers who respect Ma’at Saab deeply and are accustomed to following his guidance.
The balance changes when Kanhaiya Lal asks Aditya for a form of ‘guru dakshina’ that clashes with the officer’s own judgment. Aditya begins questioning whether his mentor is still simply guiding former students or using their positions to influence institutions and settle an old score. Their disagreement slowly develops into an open battle of strategy and will.
Running alongside this conflict is the political story of Delhi Chief Minister Prashant Singh and his adviser Waqar Mapillah. An election campaign, student protests, law-enforcement investigations, counterfeit currency, kidnappings and long-buried relationships gradually connect their world with Kanhaiya Lal’s plans.
The series is inspired by the idea of the Chanakya-Chandragupta relationship, but places that mentor-disciple dynamic in modern politics and bureaucracy. Instead of kingdoms and armies, the key instruments of power are education, civil-service positions, political influence and personal loyalty. The central question is whether a student shaped by a powerful mentor can eventually reject the mentor’s control and choose an independent path.

What Kind of Series Is Sankalp?
Sankalp is a socio-political drama and thriller rather than a conventional election story. Its main interest lies in how power can be built quietly through education, loyalty and influence over institutions. Politics provides the larger setting, but the emotional centre remains the changing relationship between Kanhaiya Lal and Aditya Verma.
The series also marks Nana Patekar’s major streaming-series debut. With Prakash Jha directing and an ensemble that includes Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Sanjay Kapoor, Kubbra Sait and Neeraj Kabi, Sankalp uses its 10-episode format to connect a personal mentor-student conflict with a broader story about ambition, authority, obedience and rebellion.
